self portrait tuesday

i am the phoenix
A long time ago, I died
from the things that lonely children die.
But look at me now.
I'm not a waste.
I'm far from a dumb waste.

This is my fifth entry for the Exploration of Identity theme for
Self Portrait Tuesday

Whoa - heavy handed much? I meant for this to be hopeful. Hmm, whoops. I almost deleted the post after rereading it just now, but the thought of exploring my identity one more time exhausts me. So . . .enjoy!

Not heavy-handed at all. I love this photo and all that you've conveyed. You've done really wonderful, exploratory work with this particular series!!

This is such an awesome shot of you. Wow! And it's so very cool, because not everyone is courageous enough to allow themselves to be re-born in various aspects of their life for the better. All I gotta say is,... Amen Sista!

i think your image and words very much conveys hope. the hope we can rise above a difficult past. and i say amen to that.

beautiful... I've spent hours, days, weeks, years trying to teach young dancers to 'open up the chest' like this. which may or may not make any sense to you. but I can see it here--it's gorgeous, so expansive, so broad. it's delicious.
