Hi, Me Again

I'm on a roll.

Check out these reusable produce bags I scored at Reusable Bags.

These take getting used to, but quite honestly, not that much. The small bags are fairly small so if you're picking up a few pounds of apples at a clip, I'd get the large. The Romaine above is nestled in the large. Just let the grocery store checker know the code of the produce in the bag, or put the sticker on the outside. Just wash out the bag and air dry after use. And that's really it. If you guys are handy with a sewing machine, unlike me, you could probably whip these up easily yourself. And in prettier colors.

In July my girls will be away. Maya will be in New York and Las Vegas and Mina in New York. I was thinking that this would be a good time to try a car-free challenge. Maybe I could get away with driving the car only once a week. Maybe I won't drive it at all. That's what I'm kicking around in my head anyway. Bus taking, training catching, and of course bike lovin'. You guys up for a challenge? Of your own personal defining? Like commute by bike to work three days a week or whatever you come up? Let me know what you're kicking around. Maybe we could do this together. Look what Hank and Me has come up with. They're working on 365 days car free. Ride On, Super Stars!

Here's what else I've been up to.
Yup. A few more hours put in, and it's almost all done. The bottom needs a bit more work and that's it - for my back anyway. The lighting isn't the greatest for showing details, but you get the idea. My skin is peeling and healing; don't be alarmed. I love doing stuff I've always wanted to do.

Happy Mother's Day, Golden Mamas every where.

When I saw these photos they took my breath away. So beautiful.
I yelled for my husband to come and see.
I can't even stand it. I've always wanted a half sleeve of flowers and earthy love...maybe someday I'll have the guts to do it.

Wow. Wow. Wow.
Happy Mother's Day!!

Thanks so much, my friends, for the kind and generous comments. You guys are hot.

And I gotta say if you've ever wanted a sleeve or a fill-in-the-blank-here, go for it - whatever it is. It's liberating and self affirming.

Hey this car free-thing is great - I am also doing this: I take the bus to/from work; I have a little trolley that is made for putting groceries in from shopping (it looks a little like an airplane trolley) and so I run errands and go shopping by foot most of the time; I also pick up my dog at my parent's home (she spends the workdays there from 07am-05pm) by foot. I have been using tons of green bags and cotton bags for years (Germany is doing this for years and if you want a plastic bag you have to pay for that) and I have been recycling for years. Pretty good so far, huh? I use the water from washing produce to water my plants but I will do a lot more, I just need some more tips what I can do more....
Sunny greetings from Germany!

Hi Antje, it sounds like you do so many inspirational things already. Thank you! Have you tried composting? There are now small kitchen composters that are fairly easy to use. After some time (6 months to a year) you can then use the compost for a garden. Best stuff in the world for plants.

Hey - wow: kitchen composters. I have never heard of that. Great idea.
In Germany we have several garbage cans: one for paper, one for glass, one for composting (I go nuts when I see people that throw in their composting garbage in PLASTIC BAGS into this can.... which happens often!!!!). In some districts the garbage removal won't pick up the garbage when it's put into the wrong can. Unfortunately ours picks up everything so people do not learn how to do it right. I so admire you for all you are doing: having a job, being a mum of two beautiful girls, being a "mum" for two cute doggies, being a wife, cooking, and your vegan bakery and preparing so much stuff on your own.... I also try to do so much but when I prepare food for breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner every day besides my job and the other stuff I spend so much time in the kitchen that sometimes I do not know when to do the other things like cleaning my car, vaccuming the condo etc..... it's really very time consuming when you want to do everything right.... sigh!

I already commented on flickr, but I had to come back and exclaim about your tattoo! It's so gorgeous, and it's giving me all kinds of ideas!
