self portrait tuesday

I love hats. A lot. Beyond being stylish, they hide things. Lumpy heads. Bad hair. Grey roots. A bad mood. They bring out things. Some fun. Daring, maybe? A flash of color. I feel overtly fetching when I where one. But sometimes I feel silly trying to work one into an outfit. Though I am instinctively drawn to hats -- always, every store, every style -- when I buy one, I am instantly self conscious of maybe trying too hard. To cover things. To bring out things. Though I do wear hats quite often, I know that the older I get will be directly proportional to the frequency of my increased hat wearing. I'm gonna wear teeshirts, jeans and big old lady church hats with feathers and nets and beads and felt. I'm gonna try too hard, and not give a shit.

More silliness here.

Lovely. Especially the ones where the sun is on your face. I love hats but they look stupid on me and I don't have a clue how to work em'.

I love hats too and even think I look fairly decent in them, but can never seem to figure out how to wear them in Real Life. I like your idea of just wearing them anyway, more and more as I get older.

The photos are all just beautiful! I especially love the one of you in the red hat.

I love your hats, I always feel so insecure wearing hats, Like it doesn't look like I should be wearing it, but I do really love them.

I love hats, too, but I always let my sense of silliness get in the way of actually wearing them. Though there are a few favorites that I wear from time to time. But they tend to be the plain black and not very interesting kind.

But I must say, those are some fabulous hats. :)

Love the idea of jeans and t-shirts with big wacko hats! You can be the neighborhood lady everyone talks about! I love hats, too, but I don't wear them very much - my "style" if you can call it that, doesn't seem to go with them. I almost bought a red polka-dotted one recently to wear with red-polka dotted shoes I'd bought, then I realized it would be WAY too much, and also, I haven't even found an occasion to wear the shoes!

A-ma-zing!
Truly stunning pictures, and I love your idea of wearing what you like, and trying too hard, if you want to.

Besides - you look awesome in hats - I don't think ANYONE could disagree.

(Surfed on in here, from Selfportrait Tuesday, btw)
