Perfect.

Here's my job: big companies are too stupid and lazy to buy insurance without a consultant. That way they can blame it on someone when it all goes to hell.

The consultants think up questions to ask the insurance companies so the consultants can justify their existence by providing a "service." Every year the questions grow increasingly baroque and bizarre because they used up all the good questions a long time ago.

The insurance companies need to have people to answer the questions. That is my job. I answer really complex, pain in the ass questions that don't mean anything to anyone.

It is on deadline, so we have to work like little busy rats to answer these questions between January and July.

Then in July, business basically stops. So for 6 months we sit around trying to look busy so no one fires us. For this, we have to RUSH to get to work through traffic every freaking day. Doing nothing seems like a job you could do from home, but no. You have to be there to fuck off for 6 months.

That's it. Weird, but its my job. I am going to go anonymous for this one so I don't get Dooced.SUEB0Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16301963922769609715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1142553204046282222006-03-16T15:53:00.000-08:002006-03-16T15:53:00.000-08:00The whole working thing is a bitch! But that doesn't stop me from daydreaming about my winnings. I hated hearing that the Powerball winners - not the last big jackpot but the one before - went out immediately to buy a Hummer. It makes me groan. I would be SO much better at spending 300 million dollars!!Laini Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14064837312936707024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1142465129920996162006-03-15T15:25:00.000-08:002006-03-15T15:25:00.000-08:00Passionate and funny and amazing as usual. For a long time I relied on cynicism and pessimism and they simply didn't work; they threw me in the gutter and pressed their shoes on my neck. So, go ahead and dream. Teach the rest of us how to do it well -- recklessly, that is to say, and with gusto and no regrets.Green Whalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15090715287317525082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1142465016739544442006-03-15T15:23:00.000-08:002006-03-15T15:23:00.000-08:00That's one thing I miss about NYC.
