So the book, The Blue Girl, was written after that. Maybe DeLint and Smith know each other, or maybe DeLint saw the work and was affected by it. Maybe it's all just a coincidence. Or maybe there is a sort of collective unconscious type symbolic definition of what a "blue girl" means. Have you read it? If not, go, read. You'll find it in the Young Adult stack.Laumehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02311615016374555526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1132959303808424452005-11-25T14:55:00.000-08:002005-11-25T14:55:00.000-08:00cuzzo!wow, you work fast and furious! i wanted to ...cuzzo!
wow, you work fast and furious! i wanted to give you time to write before i checked your blog, so i waited until today, and VOILA! great piece! thank you for all the sweet comments about me and jim and you and me.
i agree with ward-your interpretation of kiki's girl is amazing. it shows your heightened artistic eye. and the fact that you can articulate it is also impressive. i'm like, "duh, that's trippy."
love you!
bAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1132771960577161342005-11-23T10:52:00.000-08:002005-11-23T10:52:00.000-08:00Aah Ward, thanks for the great comment! Y'know, I...Aah Ward, thanks for the great comment! Y'know, I did think about saying something to Kiki when I started waiting in line. This is when I realized I couldn't conjure that initial response. Also when I finally got to her after a half hour of waiting, I goof-balled up a little (refer to my giddy face in the photo of me with Kiki for evidence of this.) I think too I could only best convey what I was feeling in writing. It's my best form of expression.Diz Riverahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04618954577639763316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1132769094591859212005-11-23T10:04:00.000-08:002005-11-23T10:04:00.000-08:00I wish and hope and pray that everyone could look ...I wish and hope and pray that everyone could look upon art like this. It is a monumental achievement whenever an artist can make a connection with the viewer this strong, this moving. I was almost about to ball up myself just reading what you had to say about the blue girl. It was a very touching tribute to the piece, to the artist, to art in general. When you had your photo taken with Kiki, were you able to mention to her about "blue girl?" I'm sure she would've been very receptive to your feelings about the piece.

Thank you very much for sharing with us your emotional, powerful, raw thoughts. I love that she and Jim are brave enough to live exactly as they please. They play hard and enjoy live. It's great to witness.

Thank you for all the Blue Girl comments. I dunno, reading about this, your experience... deep, man. deep in such a good good way.

that being said, wow! look at beautiful you and beautiful kiki smith, yo! and can we please discuss the life of your chica? she sounds amazing. the photo of her jumping off that cliff is so fresh. again, I thank you for sharing this.andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15932895308629536422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13292807.post-1132627601563908882005-11-21T18:46:00.000-08:002005-11-21T18:46:00.000-08:00Absolutely loved this blog.
